मौनं शक्तेः परं स्रोतम् - silence is a great source of power

मौनं शक्तेः परं स्रोतम्

Maunam Shakteh Param Srotam

                                                    - silence is a great source of power

Silence speaks louder than words and ever will.  Being silent allows us to channel our energies.  It gives us the clarity we need to calmly face challenges and uncertainty.  Living in silence does not mean becoming a recluse or shutting people out.  It means being selective about what you share and when you share it.  Silence is the best answer if you are misunderstood, ignored, avoided, ditched, hurt by anyone.  When your feelings are not accepted and understood by people, silence is the best in a long run.  If people have the heart to understand, they will, even if you do not express.

Silence projects strength and authority. It communicates better if you have had enough of what is going on.  Silence brings about a sense of comfort.  Silence is necessary when you need to be strong.  Silence permits your aloneness with your thoughts while you try hard to make sense of it all.  If they are too busy to notice your silence, they will not be aware of your absence. Silence speaks volumes when they do not recognize, acknowledge or refuse to understand.

Silence conveys more than words.  In silence we can connect with our true feelings and ourselves. Silence allows us to stop and connect with the universe. It can also help us find the peace and serenity we often need in our lives.  Silence leaves you alone with your inner dialogue, which allows you to reflect, resolve conflicts and understand your feelings deeply.

Spirituality makes you experience your true self.  It makes you realize the essence of your being.  Silencing the mind is the main focus of Spirituality.  Only when things settle down inside you, will you be able to experience god consciousness.  God consciousness is the truth of your being.  Experiencing pure consciousness is the path towards transforming oneself into Enlighted Being.

शक्तिः दुर्दम्येच्छाशक्त्याः आगच्छति – strength comes from an indomitable will

शक्तिः दुर्दम्येच्छाशक्त्याः आगच्छति

Shaktih Durdamyecchhashaktyah Aagachati

                                        - strength comes from an indomitable will

We have been hearing this quote "Where there is a will, there is a way" since childhood.  It means if someone really wants to do something, they will find a way to do it, even if there are things that make it hard to do.  If the going gets tough, the tough gets going.  A man with willpower will be so determined in his objectives that he will never shy away from any kind of obstacles or resistance.  Hard work pays.  A confident man will always have the strength and courage to move around aptly in any kind of situations in life. Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great. Your confidence and willpower is the gamechanger.

Mental strength and physical strength are the both factors which shape our life.  Achieving physical fitness goals boosts self-esteem and body image, while mental strength empowers individuals to believe in their abilities.  The combination of both physical and mental strength creates a strong sense of self-worth and confidence in one's capabilities.

Exercise is the best habit you can cultivate for your health for both mental and physical.  Exercise is one of the best ways to build physical strength and it is also a great way to build mental strength.  One major element of being mentally strong is feeling good about who you are and a solid way to increase your self-esteem and start feeling better about yourself.  Being mentally strong or mentally tough helps us resist both internal and external influences that weaken our self-confidence and well-being.  Mental toughness helps you to stay focused in crucial moments of life.

Spirituality helps you to build confidence in your own self.  It is a journey towards self awareness.  Knowing our true self is the path of Spirituality.  It is understanding the spirit in you, the essence of your being that is more important than external or objective part of your life.  You are satisfied internally and you are content with your self.  Being content with your life means that you are satisfied with what you have and who you are. You accept yourself as you are today, and you value all the opportunities and experiences you have had in your life.

Our strength comes from our indomitable will or pure determination.  Determination is the quality that you show when you have decided to do something and you will not let anything or anybody deter you from doing it.

सा विद्या या विमुक्तये - that is knowledge, which liberates

सा विद्या या विमुक्तये

Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye

                                    - that is knowledge, which liberates

This Sanskrit term 'Sa Vidya Ya Vimuktaye' is from Vishnu Purana which means education is that which liberates. The true purpose of education, according to this quote, is not merely to impart knowledge, but to free the mind from ignorance, narrow-mindedness, and limitations.  Our soul becomes liberated from the darkness of ignorance and superstitions if we can avail the light of knowledge.

What we learn throughout our lives through books, school, college, and scriptures are knowledge which is stored in our brain but have no experience regarding that.  Only when you gain experience through knowledge it becomes wisdom.  You become wise only through experience.  The more experience you gain, the more you become wiser in life.  Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice.  Experiencing life makes you more self confident.  If you become self confident, you will have more capacity to face life without any element of fear.

Wisdom is using one's in-depth knowledge and experience to do good by oneself and others.  Wisdom is the interpretation and understanding of knowledge that leads to greater insight.  It is a combination of experience, knowledge and careful judgement. That which gives you insight into each and every aspect of life and living and liberates you from your ignorance is true knowledge.  Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom.

What happens is not as important as how you react to what happens. Knowledge is the accumulation of facts and information.  Wisdom is knowing when, where, how to use this knowledge most beneficially.  Knowledge can be acquired by studying, but to acquire wisdom one must observe and absorb what they see and encounter in life.

Spirituality is a path which takes you on a journey inside of oneself to know your true self.   It will make you realize and aware of your true nature.  It will give you deep insight into each and every aspect of life and its intricacies.  It will make you be in the conscious state in the present.  It will make you realize and understand the realistic approach towards life.  It will make you let go of your ego and become selfless.  You start aligning with nature and go with its flow without any form of resistance.  Life will be a glorious and effortless journey once you adopt spiritual way of life.

ब्रह्मविद् ब्रह्मैव भवति - the knower of Brahman is Brahman itself

ब्रह्मविद् ब्रह्मैव भवति

Brahmavid Brahmaiva Bhavati

                                           - the knower of Brahman is Brahman itself

This brahma sutra is from Mundaka Upanishad, an ancient Sanskrit Vedic text.  The knower of the Brahman becomes the Brahman.  Here knowing and being are one and the same.  You not only know that you are infinite consciousness but you become the infinite consciousness.  To know the truth is to be the truth itself.

Moksha or liberation is recommended as the highest goal of human life.  According to the Upanishad, the highest aim to be expected for a human being is union with the Brahman.  He who has recognized the oneness of Atma with Brahman will obtain union with the Brahman, The Supreme Being.  The merging of the independent soul with the universal soul.  Being one with the whole.  River joining the sea and becoming the sea in the process.

Unless you get to know your self you will not be able to know the whole of it.  We are part of the whole and we are apart now and the whole process in our life is to how to merge with the whole.  Unless you question your being, you will not take this path to know the true aspect of life and living.  Becoming spiritual and undertake the spiritual journey to know the ultimate is purely a personal journey.  There is no school, college, or university for that.  You can get or gather information about it from everywhere and store it within yourself but it is not your personal experience. Spirituality is a personal experience and a journey to be undertaken by each and every individual on his own will and wish and with the right and clear intention.

Spirituality is a journey wherein you dissolve all your acquired thoughts in your mind and silence the mind.  Unless you dilute all the thought process in your mind, you will not be able to undertake this journey.  Meditation is a process to calm the mind of its ever weaving thought processes.  To know the ultimate truth you have to discard all the acquired ones throughout your life up until now.  Unless you empty out your mind, the possibility is remote.  Only when you empty out your self completely you will be able to receive the revelations from the ultimate.

Spirituality is a path to know our true being.  It is path of introspection, to examine ones own conscious thoughts and feelings. It is a process to understand our true self of what we are made up of and what our true nature is.  Since we are product of nature, we have to be natural not otherwise.  It is a path to realize and understand our true nature and be so rest of the life.  To understand nature, you have to become natural again by regaining your true nature and aligning with it.  First you understand who you are and then you will have capacity to understand the whole concept of life and living over a time period.

न कंचित शाश्वतम् - nothing is permanent

 न कंचित शाश्वतम्

Na Kanchit Shaashvatam - nothing is permanent

Change is the essence of nature, so nothing can be permanent and will be permanent.  Every creation of nature is constantly evolving out of its present state.  The whole of evolutionary process is working all the time eternally evolving out its present state.  Everything in nature is in a transitory stage.  Our earth is moving and we are also moving along with it.  The whole cosmos is on the move eternally.  Everything is in perpetual motion without beginning or end.  Every motion is cyclic in nature going around another celestial creation of nature.  Nature is changing and moving all the time and it is expanding its expanse which cannot be measured by human mind.

We are one of the finite creations of nature and we cannot know or understand about infiniteness of nature.  Every day you come to know of new things about nature in this world and what we come to know in our lifetime is just a minuscule comparted to what is out there as unknown.   The unknown is always more than the known.  We come as unknown and we depart as unknown having had a glimpse of what we call it as we know about something.   We are just a witness to all the happenings outside of us.  We can just observe and absorb all the events that is taking place throughout our lifetime.  Our influence is zero inside of us and outside of us.  Everything is influenced and is under the influence of nature.  Nature has bought us into this world, it takes care, and takes us back into its fold once our time period ends and we expire out of the system.  Life is a transient journey from birth to death.

The only thing left for us is to realize, understand, and assimilate the working pattern of nature and how we can realign with its flow.  We started with its flow, we got deviated and now we are realigning back into the natural flow after realization.  Going with the flow of nature is the only way forward for any sensible individual on this planet.  Flowing with nature is the least resistant way for our journey of life.  If any individual wants peace in his life, he has to just align with the flow of nature without any form of resistance in a let go fashion.  Let go is the mantra for a pleasant and glorious journey of life.

Life is a journey and we have boarded it at one point and we have a set of co-passengers like us who have boarded it at different points in their journey and we will be offloaded one after another at one point or the other and the journey of life continues.   Imaging a train going in a circular route and people getting into it at one station and getting offloaded out of it at another station and the train continues eternally and the passengers keep changing all the time.

Spirituality is a path for every individual to realize his true self and understand his nature.  It will help you to understand your true nature and be so rest of your life.  It will make you let you be your own self in this journey of life and makes you realize the role you are supposed to playout in this nature's game reserve.

यतो धर्मः ततो जयः - where there is Dharma, there is victory

यतो धर्मः ततो जयः

Yato Dharmastato Jayah

                                              - where there is Dharma, there is victory

Where there is righteousness, there is victory.

The motto of Supreme Court of India is   यतो धर्मस्ततो जयः॥ Where there is righteousness (Dharma), there is victory (jayah) has been taken from Mahabharatha, the Sanskirt epics of ancient India. Its a reaffirmation of the core Sanatana philosophy, Dharma, and the supremacy of the moral code of conduct over everything else. That no matter what, Dharma will prevail.

Being righteous literally means to be right, especially in a moral way. A righteous person not only does the right thing for other people but also follows Dharma.  Dharma is a key concept that can be translated as ‘righteousness’, duty, etc.  The righteous people always win the victory in spite of the hardships. Therefore, we should always follow the right path unmindful of the challenges in life, and go ahead with the belief that Truth Always Wins.

One should keep in mind that the truthful persons, following the right path, have to suffer a lot. The world is full of tricksters and deceitful persons who want to achieve their desired goals by hook or by crook. We have to fight against them by using the right means. The victory won by the wrong means can give us joy for a short period only. Whatever the adverse circumstances may be, we will never swerve from the right path.

The word Dharma has been misused in India for the past many years because people started using Dharma in the sense of religion and sects.  Dharma is universal and eternal, it is not Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jain etc, these are all different religions or sects.  Dharma has nothing to do with any religion.  Since ancient times, Dharma meant the universal laws of nature, which are applicable to everyone and everywhere.  The English word 'secular' was wrongly translated as Dharma-nirpeksh meaning non-Dharmic.

Meditation should begin with truth as its objective and as one progresses, one should give all importance to the truth of the present moment.  As one progresses in his life based on truth, one finally reaches the stage where one attains the Ultimate Truth.  The ultimate truth can be obtained only through silence, not by thinking about it.  Practice of meditation is to still the mind of its thought processes.  One must walk the path in accordance with the law of nature, Dharma, which can be realized only through personal experience.

Spirituality is a path which will make you realize about your true self.  It is a journey inside of ones being. Once you know your true nature and be so, you follow the path of nature and the laws of Dharma. Spirituality will make you to be in the present conscious state and to be a witness to the ecological process of nature.  It will make your mind still and not make it drift to past or future.  It will ultimately transform you into an Enlightened Being over a course of time.

सर्वं ज्ञानं मयि विद्यते - all i have to learn is within me

सर्वं ज्ञानं मयि विद्यते

Sarvam Dnyanam Mayi Vidyate

                                                           - all I have to learn is within me

Everything you are searching for is within you, realization will make you aware of it.  We fail to see that what we seek outside of us is already within us.  Understanding about ourselves is the first step to understand the whole world.

From the day we were born on this earth, we are made to focus more on the external world by our parents, family, relatives, friends, and society as a whole.  We were always taught to look exterior in our life and focus and channel our mind towards career building.  We are programmed by our peers towards academics and jobs in professional fields. We are made to believe that we need to search outside of us in the world for our happiness. We are made to focus more on materialistic things which gives us fleeting happiness.  We are taught and made to believe that only if you possess the desired objects in our lives you get satisfaction and happiness.   We were always taught and made to pursue for momentary pleasures rather than long-lasting happiness throughout our life.

Our whole life is always made to focus on objects of desires for our happiness.  We are always made to think that happiness is somewhere outside of us, in the outside world.  Man strives for happiness throughout his life outside in the materialistic world.  He is never made to feel that happiness is a feeling deep inside of our being. Happiness is a subjective feeling sensed by our senses deep inside our body.  Objects of desires are just projections by one body part, the mind, which make you think you will feel happy when you possess it from the outside world.  Mind keeps projecting objects to be desired and keeps us running throughout our lifetime until one day the desiring person is no more.  Man of materialistic desire will always be thirsty and he will never be able to quench his thirst in his lifetime.

We are organic in nature.  All organisms have sensory organs and are emotional in nature.  It is the feeling one feels deep inside of oneself in different situations and circumstances in life which is the most important aspect one needs to focus on.  All feelings are emotional in nature.  Happiness is a emotional feeling deep inside our being.  It is a whole body feeling not related to one body part.  We need to focus ourselves on our feelings more than thinking in our life.  Feeling is realistic form of expression from all parts of our body as a whole while thinking is just a projection of one body part, the mind, and a probability, not realistic.  We need to give more importance to our feelings than thinking in our life

Spirituality is a path which will lead you deep inside of ones being.  It is about understanding the subjective reality, the world of emotions and feelings.  It is about understanding the subject that is you and me.  Self understanding or understanding of oneself is Spirituality.  It is understanding about what we are made up of and our basic nature.  It is learning about oneself.  All I have to learn is deep within me.  We are organisms of organic world.  We are made of same elements which are present outside of us.  So, once we know our true self from inside, it will be easier for us to know the outside world.

आत्मदीपो भव। - be your own light

आत्मदीपो भव।

Aatmadeepo Bhav - be your own light

Truth is light.  Awareness is light.  Everyone has to have their own light.  Ignorance is the darkness of not knowing.  To come out of your ignorance, darkness, you need a ray of hope in the form of light.  Only you can enlighten yourself through your own efforts.  Knowledge removes the darkness of ignorance in life and makes life a joyful experience. We remain depressed in life due to lack of knowledge.  Not knowing about something can make you feel depressed in life.

Each and every person has a dormant switch inside his being which when switched on will make them come out of their darkness by lighten up their life and they get enlightened about their own self and everything around them, it is just a matter of realization.  Realization is the key for self transformation.  The day or the moment you realize and come out of your darkness in life, you free yourselves to transform yourselves into an Enlightened Being.  An Enlightened Being is the one who is awake and lives life consciously and goes in the path of light and charts his own destiny.

We have a festival of light, Diwali, in India.  Diwali or Deepavali is a festival celebrated for banishment of the darkness of ignorance from our lives to illuminate the path to prosperity, glory, and happiness. Diwali is a festival which dispels the darkness of ignorance, which is the root cause of all of our sorrows.

Initially, you need a guide to lead you and follow him until you discover your own guiding light deep inside your being,  Once you realize, you will be your own light in your life.  Guidance is required in the beginning and then you will be on your own once you come to realization of your own light deep inside your being.  Every one can and nobody cannot, if not in this life, the succeeding cycle of life.  Only when you put your full effort in that direction you will get enlightened in life.  You have to overcome your dark phase of life by your self by your own effort.  It starts with effort but ends with no effort. Once you are enlightened, you will live rest of your life effortlessly and gloriously with full gratitude towards the existence.

Discovering the connectedness of the universe is the ultimate goal of  enlightenment.  Enlightenment makes you reconnect to the universal force, the nature.  External influence made you disconnect yourself from being natural.  You got disconnected over the course of time in pursuit of your desired objective goals in external life and once you realize and become enlightened about it, you reestablish your connection with the nature.

Spirituality is the path to understand your subjectivity.  It is a path to realize your true self.  The quality of being yourselves is what matters the most.  Spirituality takes you in the path of self realization and be your own light for life.

Be your own light to enlighten yourself
