धर्मः स्वभावो जातिः - Virtue is Your Birth Right
Dharmaḥ Svabhāvo Jātiḥ
"Dharma" means virtue, "Svabhāva" means natural state or birthright, and "jāti" signifies birth or inherent nature. "Jāti" can also refer to caste in some contexts, here it simply means "birth" or "origin," emphasizing that virtue is a part of one's very being from the moment of birth. Virtue is your jati in real sense here.
We all are born as virtuous beings but getting deviated from our default status once we involve ourselves in our societal and social obligations. Since we all are social animals we need to be in the fabric of society and to be part of it to survive and thrive. We forgo our Dharmic rights and modify our Svabhava or character and adopt the superficial societal norms which in turn makes us face all kinds of hurdles in our day to day life and living making a hell out of everything. We are solely responsible for our plight or state of affairs in our life, it is of our own making and any blame is foolishness on our part.
Dharmic rights are principles of dharma which includes ahimsa-non-harming, karuna-compassion seva-selfless service, satyam-truth, danam-charity, prema- unconditional love, dhriti-patience, kshama-forgiveness, dama-self-control, asteya-honesty, shauch-sanctity, indraiya nigrah-control of the senses, dhi-reason, and vidya-knowledge or learning.
Unless we realize our follies once we are mature enough to reflect on our life deeply, the chances of transforming or reviving our selves into a better human being will be a remote possibility. We see reflection of our selves in the mirror to correct and make ourselves presentable and appealing to others in our society. Similarly we need to reflect into our being and take corrective measures and if need course correct ourselves to evolve into a virtuous human being.
It is your morality which dictates and shapes your character transforming you into a wise and virtuous individual Wisdom comes to a person and he will become wise when he possesses both deep understanding and sound judgment alongside with strong moral character and ethical behavior to make meaningful and thoughtful decisions based on high principles and act with integrity in various life situations.
A wise individual has to manage his or her self-interests with those of others and society at large. Virtue enables individuals to flourish and live a complete good life in all sense and leave an impression or footprint after their departure from this existence.
