ज्ञानम्‌ वा ज्ञात्वा - knowledge and knowing

ज्ञानम्‌ वा ज्ञात्वा

Jnyanan va Jnatva - knowledge and knowing

There is a vast difference between knowledge and knowing.

Knowledge means you have come to know through someone, some book, some site through computer about something which you store it in your body part called mind/brain. It is just like reading newspaper, viewing television getting updated about current trends of information. Knowledge denotes getting to know about some thing and storing it in your system for future use.  Knowledge is not an experience.

Knowledge is just gathering all information whatever you get and allocate space in your mind to sit there for further reference.  Your mind acts like a library and you are a librarian.  When somebody comes and asks for a particular book on a particular topic or subject you refer your index and get him/her her required book from your shelves behind you.  Knowledge, it sees, hears, grasps, accumulates vast amount of data and stores it in the mind for further reference.  It is just information data store house. Knowledge is just 1% of knowing.  Knowledge is theory yet to be put into practice. A sort of unused or unpracticed information data collected and stored in the brain.  Knowledge is like you have come to know about somebody, his name, his profession, his status in the society but he does not know you and you have not met him in person at all in your life.

Knowing means experiencing.  When the knowledge is put into use it becomes knowing.  Knowing is a self experience.   Knowing is practical.  Experiencing the knowledge is knowing.  You have come to understanding about both theory and the practical part of that particular topic or theme.  Knowing is 100%.  Now you know inside out through experience.  Knowing about cycle and cycling is knowledge.  Having ridden a bicycle is knowing,  Knowledge put into practice is knowing.  Knowing is the expansion of knowledge. Knowing is an experience.  Experiencing knowledge leads to knowing.

Knowledge can be acquired from reading, taking a class, or practical lessons at work. It is external. Knowing, on the other hand, is a certainty that comes from experience, contemplation, and reflection. Knowledge is factual while knowing is experiential.

A knowledgeable person cannot become wise, only a person of knowing and experience can become a wise being, full of wisdom.

Hence a knowledgeable person is in the first step where as the person of knowing is in the last step having covered all the steps in the process of knowing. A knowledgeable person can become a teacher, but a person of knowing can become a master or guru. A knowledgeable person speaks out of his data bank. A person of knowing does not just speak but shares his experience through his voice with a feeling and an effect.  Both knowledgeable person and person of knowing make use of the same set of words and sentence forms but person of knowledge can convey just the information about it whereas person of knowing conveys the cause and effect of the information in its truest form out of his experience and words and sentences are delivered effectively with feeling and effect.

Knowledgeable persons just conveys his topic through words just with meaning, just a glimse.  A person of knowing expresses himself through words and sentences in such a way that he goes beyond words and sentence to convey his experience in a completely wholesome way. Your whole body knows what it is and had experienced it and it is there in each and every cell of the your body rather than just in one body part the brain/mind.  Only knowledgeable person can be absent minded.

A man of knowing does not use his mind, his whole body acts collectively in union in a synchronous way, so the probability of things going wrong is remote. A man of knowing is always in the present so mind has no role to play.

The expression 'presence of mind' has to be actually 'absence of mind'  When you do not mind things will be alright. Being in present or presence is a no mind zone.  A man of knowing acts spontaneously without giving a thought.

Spirituality helps a person to realize and understand his true self.  It makes a person wise by making him aware of all the intricacies of life and living. It transforms him into an Enlightened Being.  An Enlightened being is a person of knowing not a person of knowledge.

Become a person of knowing and celebrate your existence
